||How to transfer my degree to France?
||The question of degree's transfer
is an important issue. In theory, Chinese education system and French
education match together. Nevertheless, there is an issue about the
content transferability. It means that the different classes that
the students have studied in China don't necessarily match with the
pre-requisite of the major that the students applied for. Education
is based on the conjuncture and the structure of the nation. Indeed
the necessary knowledge to find a job in China is radically different
from the knowledge needed in France. Different but of course complementary,
to get advanced knowledge about any topic in France will give the
students a high added value on the job's market.
Consequently Chinese students according to the transferability (it
means how many grades match with the pre-requisite the expected level),
will face to 2 different choices:
In the case that the students got a BENKE:
||1st OPTION (high degree of Transferability):
||If the board of director assesses
that the students will succeed in the master cycle, students will
whether be accepted in Master 2 (professional or research), or Master
1 (general year).
There is a double filter. The first one is that the university's professors
assess that the academic of the students allow them to escape the
undergraduate cycle, even if the academic doesn't perfectly match.
The second one is the students' potential. The more the students have
got excellent grade in China, the more they have chance to go to a
||2nd OPTION (high degree of Transferability):
||On the contrary, if the assessment
commission estimates that the students have a lack of academic background
to go directly to a master the students will be transferred to undergraduate
cycle. The chance that the students succeed in post-graduate program
are low and for the benefit of the students, it is better that they
spend one or two years on under-graduate cycle. Again the more the
students have got excellent grade in China, the more they have chance
to go to a L3.
This chart sums up the situation for a BENKE
students that want to study in the same field of study.
Some students will want to change their majors; we want to remind
that to get to additional skills is very useful and valuable. It will
be very interesting for a science student to get a diploma in Business
In this case, there are two main profiles. The first profile is the
students which want to get further education in a specific topic they
had studied in China. For instance, the Business administration students
which wish to study finance will apply for master degree in Business
College or university. In France, those specific masters degree are
opened to this kind of profile.
The second profile will be a 100% re-orientation, for instance engineers
which want to study business administration. Those students will apply
in specific master degree in general management or MBA.
||What is the competitive advantage
of Private Education
||Private education is considered
as an efficient alternative to the Public system in France. Sometimes,
private system is even better than the public system.
Private education is academically controlled by education, labour
or culture ministry according to their specialization.
Private education means that the students will have to pay a premium
price about their tuitions fees, because the government doesn't compensate
the tuition fees by sponsorship, we remind here that government invests
every year an equivalent of 60000 RMB (6000 euros) per student. 20%
of the national budget is invested in the education, which is the
largest share; this is the main reason why public French education
remains cheaper than lots of OECD countries.
Private education can not be defined only by the amount of the tuitions,
for instance lots of college have a consular status, and it means
that the main "shareholder" or the board of director is
the Chamber of commerce. A chamber of Commerce is an office which
represents the political and economic interest of local entrepreneur;
it is easy to understand why local business men want to invest in
the local education. Consular doesn't mean private, it doesn't mean
public either¡To conclude, the amount of the tuition fees
will never define if the university is public or private by nature.
The competitive advantage of the Private education is to answer to
the students' needs where the public university can't afford it.
We can compare universities to conglomerate. The business model of
a conglomerate is vertical and horizontal diversification with the
aim to polish the risk of its different activities. Universities,
on the contrary to the conglomerate don't have to attenuate the financial
risk but they have to supply to their students a maximum of degree
and majors to cover the maximum of students needs. Consequently, there
are few financial arbitrages between education resources which present
the highest potential for a sustainable source of cash inflow and
the education resources with a lower potential.
As a consequence, in university, education investment especially about
the facilities will be low to expect a great return on investment.
To simplify, private education has deeply invest on the different
niches where universities education resources were weak; where the
proposed return on investment was too below the students expectations.
Private education will be normally focused on one defined field of
study and will tend to invest into core services and additional services
to make the students competitive on short and long run on the labour
market. Private education will propose in these cases, high return
on investment, which means good job position, long term career vision
and high paid salary, most of times higher than the industry average
that students work in.
First, the core service which is education will be advanced and more
competitive than the provided knowledge in public institution. On
the difference to public university which will provide a global knowledge,
Private institution will cover all the different topics of this industry,
all the actor of the supply chain, from the primary supplier to the
final customer. To answer to the labour market needs, which asks for
operational profile, which will be able to deliver added value very
quickly, the teaching method will be more flexible than university.
First of all, the method will alternate theory, practice, working
group and personal research, the aim is to consider students as young
professional. For instance, it is common in fashion school, that the
students will manage their own fashion show from the buying of the
tissue to show itself through the design and will be assessed by a
group of professional. Second point, teacher will be expert in their
field; private education will balance professional experience and
theoretical experience. It becomes common to see companies investing
in research centres in private schools, because they recognize their
operational skills and their long term vision about the concerned
The additional services will be something that the public system can't
provide to the students. It will be the professional network through
the alumni and companies network, job placement, conference, seminar,
debate about specific topics. According to their concerned industry,
some private schools innovate and propose original and high added
value, Business College will develop "junior enterprise",
student union which will provide some paid services to companies;
these kinds of students unions will provide market survey or marketing
research. Design College will develop their own designing contest¡.
The consequence speaks for itself, high percentage of students find
job before the graduation, their starting salary is higher than the
average, and career plan is quicker. Of course, to get that, student
works in class and at home more than universities' ones, they have
more pressure, indeed they don't pay for their diploma, they earn
Due to the higher investment students make, the private education
commits to provide an higher return on investment.
||Why using an agent?
||To reduce the risk, easy answer
to a complicated question!
The mission of a licensed and good agent is to provide:
-Good placement matching with the students' career objectives
-Supporting and complementary services to help the students during
its study plan.
DIY is very risky option for every students
profile for several reasons. Since Chinese students are able to
study abroad, a significant share of students have decided to apply
by themselves, with unfortunately a low success rate at VISA interview
(lower than students which have applied by agent) and a placement
which is often not suitable with the student's needs and desire.
Visa interview is not a small thing. Students
need to be well trained, on a regular basis and following a plan
and methods. The agent is the only one, thanks to his experience
in that field, that can offer students the right training for success.
Visa interview is a real tough exercise one cannot think about without
due consideration, that's why it is very important for the student
to follow each step in the visa training with the agent. During
trainings the agent is able to give students useful tips and suggestions
for a better interview.
